Sounders Hold on to Beat Galaxy 2-1 as Jordan Morris Continues Top Form

A talented LA Galaxy hosted the Seattle Sounders on a sunny afternoon at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson California with the Sounders looking to back up their first away win of the season last week in Kansas City.

In the first few minutes of the game, the Galaxy came out firing, putting lots of pressure on Stefan Frei's goal, with Riqui Puig getting particularly involved.

The Sounders would find their footing with Leo Chu, coming off a 4 assist performance in Kansas City, finding space on the left wing multiple times. After a few errant crosses and passes he would find the quality final pass to Jordan Morris, replicating the combination that proved deadly last week, and Morris slotted home an easy finish for him to continue his hot start to the season to make it 1-0 Sounders in the 21st minute.

Leo Chu would continue to find space in the tail end of the first half, taking advantage of an attacking Calegari from the LA Galaxy. Chu picked up a ball just inside the Galaxy half and drove inside towards the penalty area without pressure being put on him, and with the confidence he's been riding with, takes a shot from 25 yards out and sneaks it by LA goalkeeper Klinsmann to make it 2-0 in the 35th minute.

The Sounders, while not necessarily dominating with the most chances in the first half would take this seemingly comfortable lead into halftime, looking to continue in the second half.

The LA Galaxy would come again in the second half, mounting the pressure early and often forcing the Sounders to defend more than they wanted. Stefan Frei would come up huge multiple times with some key saves, but after a powerful shot from Raheem Edwards that Frei was not able to catch, Jalen Neal would pounce on the rebound to half the deficit for the Galaxy in the 63rd minute.

LA would continue to gain momentum, looking for an equalizer they feel would be deserved as the Sounders continued to soak up pressure and defend the lead. Galaxy would eventually take 19 shots just in the second half, but Seattle's defense held strong and kept a well earned 3 points on the road against a quality side, A massive result for the Sounders going into next weekend's home match against the red hot MLS newcomers, Sait Louis.
