Kevin Durant Makes History, USA Basketball Advances To Olympic Semifinal

Kevin Durant made history as the United States Men's Basketball Team defeated Brazil, 112-80, to advance to the semifinal round at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday (August 6).

Durant passed Lisa Leslie's previous record of 488 career points in Olympic play to become USA Basketball's all-time leading scorer for men and women while recording 11 points, along with three rebounds, three assists and one steal, during Tuesday's win. The two-time NBA champion entered the 2024 Paris Olympics as the U.S. Men's Basketball Team's all-time leading scorer.

Devin Booker scored a team-best 18 points, along with three rebounds and three assist during Tuesday's win. Anthony Edwards scored 17 points, along with six rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Team USA will face Serbia in a rematch of their Group C opening matchup of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the semifinals on Thursday (August 8). The United States defeated Serbia, 110-84, on July 28.

The winner of the Serbia-USA matchup will face the winner of Thursday's semifinal game between Germany and France for the gold medal. Team USA has won all four of its games by double figures.

The Americans have won gold in men's basketball in each of the past three Olympic tournaments since placing bronze in the 2004 Athens Games.
