Rumor or true?
Disney is planning a live-action 'Lilo & Stitch' movie! A casting call has gone out for a few of the lead roles. Below is a brief character description...
Lilo: "A young, precocious Native Hawaiian girl who loves hula, surfing, and wildlife, with a special affinity for all things “gross.”"
- It's all pretty on-par to the Lilo we all know and love from the original cartoon!
Nani: "Caring for Lilo while keeping up her grades and holding down a steady job ain’t easy, and her shortcomings have recently drawn unwanted attention from Child Protective Services, who threaten to separate the sisters if they can’t reform."
- From the full description, it sounds like we'll be hearing a lot more about the struggles Nani goes through.
- Plus this time, she's also a student!
Tutu: "Lilo and Nani’s neighbor, she has known the Pelekai family for years."
- A new character!
- She's in her 70's, so I imagine she'll act as somewhat of a parental role to both Nani and Lilo, or possibly just a shoulder to lean on.
David: "A decent, good-hearted young man, he is a student at the local community college and also works with Nani at the hotel where he performs the Fire Knife Dance for the tourists."
- Pretty much the same David we all know & love, but with an education & Tutu for a grandmother!
Mrs. Kekoa: "She is a social worker, a practical, by-the-book kind and patient woman who checks in regularly with Nani, whom she can tell is struggling to keep her head above water while taking care of her younger sister."
- New character... kind of. She is replacing the iconic Mr. Bubbles!
Fans of the original series are already sharing who they think should play Nani - Auliʻi Cravalho who voiced Moana! Fans are also upset about the fact we're not getting a Mr. Bubbles. Personally, I just want to see how they CGI Stitch!
