Seattle Sounders FC 1-1 LAFC

Coming off a big Cascadia victory, and on the return from international break for many Sounders players, but without their first choice number 9, Seattle welcomed league leading LAFC to Lumen Field to test the form of the 2022 CCL Champs.

In the early going, as both sides were feeling each other out, teams traded half chances but no definitive threat to change the score came in the first 15 minutes. Jordan Morris found early success in behind LAFC's right side, but wasn't able to find a quality cross to put the home side up.

LAFC would go on to threaten Stefan Frei's goal in the 28th minute and Stefan Frei would stand up to the challenge and make a good near post save to keep the match even.

Despite a relatively open first half with lots of chances, neither side was able to find the clinical touch to open the scoring in the first half as the two sides went into the break even at 0-0.

Both teams came out for the second half looking for the opening goal early as they traded chances in the first 5 minutes, still no clinical finish.

After a poor giveaway in the back from LAFC, Albert Rusnak pounced on the mistake and wrong footed the goalkeeper to send the home side into the lead 1-0 in the 58th minute.

LAFC would look to respond after gifting the opening goal to Seattle, as they poured on the pressure looking for the equalizer, but in Stefan Frei would come up huge with a close range double save to keep the Sounders in the lead.

The visitors would get their chance to even up the game in the 79th minute as they would pounce on a dangerous ball in the box and Cristian Arango was able to float a header over Stefan Frei for 1-1.

After each side would look for the winning goal in the last 10 minutes, there didn't seem to be another big chance to turn the result either way. The match would end 1-1 and in terms of quality of chances, probably a just score line from two top sides in the Western Conference.
