Seahawks One Series: Chuck's One Big Takeaway

For a second consecutive June, Chuck & Buck in the Morning are delivering for you a daily feature called "The One Series". One Seahawks insider/analyst/writer joins us each day to break down one key Seahawk player for one entire interview. But this year, we venture just beyond Seattle to dissect newcomers to the Seahawks roster. And for this particular blog entry, we don't have to venture far. We checked in with former Washington St. QB, and current Cougs radio analyst, Alex Brink to discuss the Seahawks 2022 3rd round pick, and fellow Coug, Abraham Lucas.

ALEX BRINK ON ABRAHAM LUCAS

Brink on Lucas' intangibles: "He's got a mean streak to him. He's also very intelligent. So, he's able to handle different looks at the line-of-scrimmage. In the NFL, everybody has tools. But for me, it's kind-of-a "neck-up-thing" that really separates him."

Brink on Lucas' learning curve: "Are there technical things he'll need to learn in the Seahawks scheme? Probably. But it's less about technique and more about scheme-specific that's going to be a bit of a jump. But not something he can't handle."

Brink on Lucas' character: "He's very aware of what's going on around him, and he takes his time to evaluate and form his opinions. I saw a really high level of character and leadership during his time at Washington State."

But the "One Big Takeaway" I had from our conversation with Alex Brink regarding Abraham Lucas is what he said about his rookie value... "Abraham Lucas at 72nd overall in the draft is incredible value. There was a time when everybody thought he was going to be a first round pick. The Seahawks, and Seahawks fans, should be very excited."

After minicamp, Pete Carroll candidly named Abraham Lucas a strong contender to start at Right Tackle this season for the Seahawks. With Charles Cross practically locked in at Left Tackle, how interesting will it be to assess the possibility of two starting rookie tackles in 2022?
