Rashaad Penny, Damontre Moore activated for Sunday's game at Washington

Seattle Seahawks v Philadelphia Eagles

The Seattle Seahawks activated running back Rashaad Penny from the physically unable to perform list and defensive end Damontre Moore from the suspended list ahead of Sunday’s game against the Washington Football Team.

Running back Travis Homer (knee) and offensive lineman Jamarco Jones (groin) were placed on injured reserve to open up space on the roster.

Penny has been practicing the last two weeks after being designated to return from the PUP list. Penny has been working his way back from a torn ACL sustained last December and has been on the PUP list all season. He had one more week of eligibility to practice without being added to the roster, but head coach Pete Carroll has been effusive in his praise for how he’s looked on the practice field the last two weeks.

Penny’s return gives Seattle a full-strength backfield for the first time all year. Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde have dealt with injuries throughout the middle of the season and Penny’s availability with help give the team flexibility to limit their work and get them healthy as the playoffs approach.

Homer had a fractured bone in his wrist and a knee injury that had already kept him sidelined for the last month of action.

Moore is returning after a six-game suspension for a violation of the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy. The Seahawks were given a one-week roster exemption for Moore to return to practice before needing to be added to the roster.

Moore takes the spot of Jones, who injured his groin while making a relief start at right tackle against the New York Giants two weeks ago. Jones has started in place of Brandon Shell and Cedric Ogbuehi, who were both out with injuries.

Cornerback Quinton Dunbar and tight end Greg Olsen were eligible to be activated as well but the team is holding off for at least another week. Wide receiver Josh Gordon becomes eligible to return to practice next week from suspension and cornerback Tre Flowers can practice as well as he works back from the injured reserve list.
