Earlier this week, the XFL announced that Ryan Gustafson, the former Vice President of Business Strategy and Development with Seattle Sounders FC, was named President of the new XFL franchise in Seattle.
A native of Bellevue, Washington, Gustafson has worked with the Seattle Seahawks, San Diego Padres, and Sounders FC before taking the new job with the XFL team in his hometown. According to the league, he will be "responsible for the team's fan engagement and business operations, including ticket sales, corporate partnerships, marketing, content, communications, community relations, and the game day experience."
Gustafson joined Cliff and Puck Show Producer and Sounders Weekly Host Jackson Felts to talk about his new job, the transition from his work with Seattle Sounders FC to the XFL, his journey from Bellevue, Washington, Jim Zorn leading the new XFL team, the team's name and colors, and the Sounders' season so far.
